In this Study Session, you have learned about the female reproductive organs consisting of:

a) The external parts (the mons pubis, the labia majora and minora, the clitoris and the vestibule) and;
b) The internal parts (the vagina, the cervix, the uterus, the fallopian tube and the ovaries).

Note also that:

The uterus has three parts (funds, body and the cervix).
There is a significant relationship between the female pelvic and labour/delivery.
The gynaecoid female pelvic makes labour easier and safe.
The female pelvic bone has three main parts (ilium, ischium and pubic bones).
The female pelvis has the inlet and outlets.

c) Some of the physiological functions of the female reproductive organs are to:

Secret sex hormones and produce egg (ovaries).
Receive the male reproductive organ and spermatozoa (vagina).
Serve as the site of fertilisation (fallopian tubes).
Attach and nourish the foetus (uterus).
Deliver the foetus (uterus & vagina).
