Who Are Contacts?

Types of contacts
Based on the level of exposure to COVID-19 patients, contacts classified as:

Close contact (high risk)

Casual contact (low risk)

 

  • Household contacts
  • Individual with >15 minutes face-to-face contact within <2 meters distance
  • Health care workers exposed to case without use of appropriate PPE
  • In the same room in health care with aerosolized procedure undertaken
  • Passengers on an aircraft within 2 seats in any direction and crew members serving section of aircraft
  • Individuals sharing a close space with case >2 hours, but not within 2 meters of one another
  • Direct contact with body fluids or lab specimens of case

 

  • Health care workers who have taken appropriate PPE precautions
  • Individuals sharing a close space <2 hours, but not within 2 meters of one another
  • Passengers on an aircraft beyond two seats in any direction
