A contact is a person who has experienced any of the following exposures to COVID-19 patient during the two days before and the 14 days after the onset of symptoms:

Face-to-face contact
Direct physical contact
Direct care for a patient with COVID-19
Other situations as indicated by risk assessment of situations. For example, exposure in closed environments such as classrooms, places of worship, hospital waiting rooms, and shared transport.

Types of contacts
Based on the level of exposure to COVID-19 patients, contacts classified as:

Close contact (high risk)

Casual contact (low risk)

Household contacts
Individual with >15 minutes face-to-face contact within <2 meters distance
Health care workers exposed to case without use of appropriate PPE
In the same room in health care with aerosolized procedure undertaken
Passengers on an aircraft within 2 seats in any direction and crew members serving section of aircraft
Individuals sharing a close space with case >2 hours, but not within 2 meters of one another
Direct contact with body fluids or lab specimens of case

Health care workers who have taken appropriate PPE precautions
Individuals sharing a close space <2 hours, but not within 2 meters of one another
Passengers on an aircraft beyond two seats in any direction
