Phases of Vaccination Implementation Plan

Phase

Target Population

Phase 1

Vaccination Implementation Plan (initial 20% of the population)
  • Health workers, older adults and adults with comorbidities, individuals working in essential societal services will be prioritized.

 

Phase 1 A

Vaccination [1]   implementation plan (3% of the population): priorities include:

  1. Health sector workers working in public, private, NGOs front line health care professionals and supporting staffs, health program staffs including supporting staffs at all level, health science students engaged in the clinical attachment, personnel working in outsource service in the health sector, geriatric center health care staffs.
  2. Older adults aged 65 years and above.
  3. Adults aged 18-64 years with comorbidities including chronic heart disease, hypertension, diabetic, Patients with oncology diseases (Cancer), hepatic, pulmonary diseases (COPD, Asthma, Severe Respiratory diseases), renal failure, Autoimmune diseases (SLE, Rheumatoid Arthritis), Morbid obesity, HIV/TB, Mental illness. 

Phase 1 B

Vaccination implementation (up to 17-20% of the population): Priorities include:

  1. Older people aged 55-64 years.
  2. Teachers (both public and private).
  3. Special population groups- prisons, street dwellers aged 18 years and above.
  4. Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)- adults aged 18 years and above and staffs not included in other priority groups.
  5. Refugee camps- adults aged 18 years and above and staffs not included in other priority groups.
  6. At-risk essential workers including industrial staff, public transportation staff, airlines, railways, road transport staff, long truck drivers, mega project workers, fire fighters.
  7. Additional at risk essential workers including bank, custom and revenue staffs, security guards, municipal services.

Phase 2

Vaccine implementation (20-50% of the population):

  • All healthy adults aged 18 years and above that are not covered in the above category.


N.B:  Children will be vaccinated once COVID-19 vaccines are approved for use in ages under 18.   

Pregnant women at high risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 (for example, health workers) or who have comorbidities (health conditions that may contribute to death) that add to their risk of severe disease, may be vaccinated in consultation with their health care provider.


Vaccination can be offered to breastfeeding women if they are part of a group prioritized for vaccination.
