During Vaccination Sessions
Team composition and target for each session:
- A team of six individuals will be established per session. The team will comprise:
- 2 health extension workers/health workers to provide vaccine,
- 1 recorder,
- 1 crowd controller,
- 1 COVID-19 screener,
- 1 social mobilizer.
- Target: 150 people/day per session.
Ensure Standard infection prevention and control strategies for vaccination sessions.- Hand hygiene: use alcohol-based hand rub or clean water and soap.
- Vaccinators should always perform hand hygiene, preferably using alcohol-based hand rubs given their setting.
- Gloves are NOT indicated for intramuscular injections unless there is skin breakdown.
- Perform respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette.
- Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): wear a medical mask.
- For delivering COVID-19 vaccines, the following PPE is recommended:
- Medical masks (for the health worker); and
- Medical or fabric mask for the person receiving the vaccine.
- Ensure you are wearing a medical mask throughout the entire vaccination session.
- Apply safe injection practices and safe disposal of waste.
- Environmental cleaning and disinfection: maintain a clean environment, especially high-touch surfaces (e.g., chairs, tables, door handles).
