4. Sinovac
Sinovac-CoronaVac is a Vero cell-based, aluminum hydroxide-adjuvanted β-propiolactone-inactivated vaccine. Recommended for people who are 18-59 years of age.- Characteristics:
- Fully liquid, inactivated.
- Milky-white suspension in vials and AD pre-filled syringes.
- Two available presentations:
- Non-auto-disable (non-AD) syringe: 0.5 mL
- Vials, for which the following is needed:
- Auto-disable (AD) syringes: 0.5 mL
- Needles for intramuscular injection 23G × 1” (0.60 × 25 mm)
- It is a milky-white suspension, the dose is 0.5ml.
- The vaccine is available in a single-dose vial or prefilled syringe.
- Given intramuscular, preferably on the deltoid muscle.
- Interval of administration is 2-4 weeks after the first dose
- Both doses are necessary for protection, the same product should be used for both doses.
- Vaccine Handling:
- Store unopened vials in a refrigerator between +2 and +8°C until expiry date stated on the cover and opened vials (after first needle puncture) should be kept cooled at temperatures between +2 °C and +8°C during the immunization session
- Discard the vaccine after six hours of opening or at the end of the session whichever comes first.
- The vaccine has no VVM, monitor the temperature at least twice per day.
- Adverse events following immunization:
- Most of these symptoms are mild and lasted for few days
- Injection site pain
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue and Muscle pain
- Contraindication:
- A history of anaphylaxis to any component of the vaccine is a contraindication to vaccination
- People who have an anaphylactic reaction following the first dose of this vaccine should not receive a second dose of the same vaccine
