Pregnancy
- Introduction
- This is an evolving situation
- As and when new evidence emerges these will be updated
- Transmission
- The infection rate is not higher than the general population
- Vertical transmission – Data on the perinatal vertical transmission to neonates is limited to small case series with conflicting results (National Institute of Health, USA);
- Some studies have demonstrated a lack of transmission,
- Others have not been able to definitively rule out
- Symptoms/complications
- Similar to the general population
- A large population-based cohort study in the UK found, the rates of critical care admission and severe SARS-CoV-2-associated maternal mortality were similar to those in the general population of women of reproductive age
- Only reported emergency C-section for a stillborn – MODS
- Fetal complications
- No increased risk of spontaneous abortion
- No teratogenic evidence
- A few reports of premature rupture of membrane (PROM)
