WHO Guidance on Home-based isolation and care of COVID-19 patients
- According to WHO, home-based care is any form of care provided by family, friends, and members of the local community in the home to a person who is sick.
- Home-based care is provided based on the guidance of trained health workers provided to care-givers and patients.
- WHO recommends COVID-19 patients who have no symptoms or those with mild disease without risk factors for poor outcomes could be suitable for home isolation and care, provided the following two requirements are fulfilled in the home setting:
- conditions for implementing appropriate IPC are met;
- close monitoring for any signs or symptoms of deterioration in their health status by a trained health worker is feasible.
