When to End the Home-based Isolation and Care?
The home-based isolation and care ends when the patient recovers from COVID-19 or if death occurs at home.
Recovery from COVID-19: the home-based Isolation and care ends with recovery
- Fourteen days from the date when the patient was identified eligible for home-based isolation and care for patients with no or mild symptoms during enrollment.
- Fourteen days from the date of symptoms improvement for patients who are referred from health facility-based treatment centres to be enrolled to home-based isolation and care.
- Laboratory test for COVID-19 is not a requirement for discharge of patients from home-based isolation and care unless the patient is a health professional or military personnel.
- Death of COVID-19 patient at home: During the death of a confirmed COVID-19 patient under home-based isolation and care, the caregiver or household member should communicate with the Woreda for appropriate dead body management according to the national protocol.
