Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Function as a physical barrier to the transmission of infectious particles present in bodily fluids.
• The most common PPE are gloves, aprons, eye protection, masks and gowns.
• As a rule, PPE selection should be based on “risk assessment” i.e., the type and duration of exposure to body fluids.
