IPC Measures in Isolation and Treatment Centres
IPC measures in isolation and treatment centers involves:
- Health care workers should be designated to care exclusively for suspected or confirmed cases
- Limit the number of healthcare workers
- Do not shuffle health care workers between caring for suspected to confirmed cases and vice versa
- Consider a unidirectional (one-way) flow of materials, staff and patient to minimize cross contamination.
- The rooms at isolation and treatment centers should have hand hygiene station, toilet facilities and good ventilation.
- Health care workers should self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 including taking temperature twice a day and remain alert for respiratory symptoms.
- Use dedicated equipment (e.g. stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs and thermometers) for each patient or disinfect with 0.5% chlorine solution after using for each patient.
- Ensure that HCWs performing aerosol-generating procedures are in an adequately-ventilated room (natural ventilation or in negative pressure rooms) and use N95 respirators.
