Responsibilities of HEWs

• Provide orientation to different community platforms (WDGs, MDGs, religious leaders, Idir leaders, youths etc.) and engage them in the prevention of COVID-19.
• Identify persons with Acute Respiratory Illness and refer to the nearby health center (RRT).
• Provide health information/health education for the community about COVID-19.
• Integrate routine health services (e.g. EPI, ANC, etc.) while doing COVID-19 prevention.
• Conduct contact tracing in coordination with the RRT established at HC or Woreda level.
• Identify and address myths and rumors about COVID-19.
• Provide psychosocial support for affected families.
• Monitor mask utilization and hand washing practices.
