Emergencies occur everywhere, and each day they consume resources
regardless of whether there are systems capable of achieving good
outcomes (Olive C. Kobusingye et al)
These emergencies affect
adults and the young; occur anywhere ( in the home, community, road
and the work place) ; and result in high mortality and morbidity; with
impact on the individual, family , community and country.
Emergency
care is a spectrum of services that ensures that a person having an
emergency ( sudden illness or injury with threat to life or limb) gets
care from the scene of the emergency , through transportation and
eventually definitive care at a health facility.
Equipping health
workers with essential emergency care skills is critical in ensuring
they are able to recognize and adequately provide emergency care.
This
online programme aims to equip health workers with the basics on how
to that handle emergencies in health facilities in Uganda.
