Questions to ask

• What is the patients Tetanus immunization status?
• Are there other conditions present that put the person at higher risk for serious injury? Risk factors for poor outcome? These may include;

Age less than 5 years or greater than 55 years

Heart or lung disease

Diabetes

Liver failure

Severely overweight

Pregnancy

HIV

Bleeding disorder or taking blood thinning medications
