It is obviously known that home visiting is one of the components of preventive health service delivery. In which case, it plays a greater role in preventing the mother and her baby from any related health problems that will occur during and after delivery. Home visiting is important in:
- Evaluating and identifying any dangerous, life threatening problems and the immediate action that must be taken for the mother as well as for the newborn baby.
- It is an integrated program which will include many health related issues in it.
- It is a good opportunity to provide information and counselling for the mother as well as the family members.
- Creating a good opportunity to promote health and mobilise the community about postnatal care.
